Engaging community learning and tutoring in Huddersfield
Tyiab Sethi supporting young students in a local West Yorkshire community learning environment

OUR FOUNDING STORY

From local roots to a
wider purpose

Tuition Time Hub was born not in a corporate boardroom, but across community classrooms and kitchen tables in West Yorkshire. Growing up locally and teaching across Dewsbury, Tyiab Sethi saw firsthand the persistent gap between top-tier academic coaching and what hardworking local families could realistically access. What began as tailored tutoring for nearby state-school pupils quickly evolved into a trusted regional service built around rigor, warmth, and real progress.

As the Hub expanded, so did the conviction that commercial growth should actively create community good. Rather than treating social impact as an occasional charitable gesture, Tyiab embedded sustainable giving directly into the operating structure. Every milestone achieved by the tuition business is intentionally structured to generate tangible, positive ripples throughout the neighbourhoods we proudly serve.

"We do not only want to build successful services. We want to build successful services that help good travel further."

TRANSPARENCY & GOVERNANCE

Questions about the
Impact Pledge

How exactly is the 20% of profits commitment calculated?

Our 20% of profits commitment is calculated on net operating profit at the close of each financial quarter, verified by independent accountants before transfer. It represents genuine surplus after core educational delivery costs, guaranteeing sustainable, long-term funding for community learning initiatives.

What is the legal relationship between Tuition Time Hub and the CIC?

Tuition Time Hub Limited operates as the commercial education entity, while Tuition Time Community Interest Company (CIC) is an autonomous, asset-locked organization. The CIC is governed independently, ensuring that all transferred funds are legally ring-fenced exclusively for public benefit.

Does the Impact Pledge increase tutoring costs for parents?

No. Tuition rates are set strictly against market standards for premium tuition. The 20% contribution comes directly from company operational profits, not from added surcharges or elevated session fees.

How are community recipients and learning projects selected?

Project allocations are overseen by the CIC board in consultation with local schools, youth organizations, and community partners in Huddersfield. Priority is given to verified literacy gaps, educational resources, and accessible small-group workshops.

How often are verified financial and impact reports published?

We publish comprehensive impact statements semi-annually and full financial summaries annually on our portal. Every contribution, project milestone, and audit verification is made accessible to all enrolled families and partners.

How can local educators and tutors get involved with the CIC?

Educators can participate either through standard tutoring roles with Hub Limited or by facilitating subsidized community workshops run directly through the CIC. Inquiries can be submitted directly through our community liaison team.

Our Transparency Standard

Every pound committed under the 20% of profits pledge is legally protected by the CIC asset lock. This ensures funding cannot be diverted into private dividends or non-charitable operations.

  • Independently verified quarterly accounting
  • Legally distinct asset-locked community entity
  • Zero cost addition to tuition session pricing
  • Regular publicly accessible impact reporting
